Medical Anthropology
Explore the intersection of medicine, culture, and storytelling in Medical Humanities, where we examine how pandemics and illness reshape our ways of knowing, caring, and being. Drawing from anthropology, sociology, history, literature, and the arts, this course investigates how people experience pain, healing, and uncertainty across diverse contexts. Students will engage with illness narratives, bioethical dilemmas, and therapeutic practices through ethnographic methods and creative expression. Together, we’ll analyze health disparities, caregiving, and the complex interplay between biomedical and alternative healing systems. The course encourages community-based research and artistic projects to deepen our understanding of care in an unequal world.
